Solveyr Status — Pre-production

SOLVEYR Aire  ·  Model SC-800 COOL

A tabletop air conditioner with no exhaust hose.

Conventional portable air conditioners reject heat as hot air through a duct to a window. The Aire rejects it into water instead — a sealed internal reservoir, emptied every few hours through a quarter-turn drain. No hose. No window. No installation. It runs on an integrated LiFePO₄ battery and charges from a solar panel.

The product

The Aire is a tabletop cooling and heating unit for the European and North American residential market. It measures 310 × 195 × 235 mm and sits on a desk, a nightstand or a kitchen counter.

It runs four modes — cool, heat, fan and dehumidify — from a reverse-cycle R‑290 heat pump. Power comes from a 640 Wh integrated LiFePO₄ pack plus a 400 Wh detachable module that hot-swaps without shutting the system down. Both charge from mains, USB-C PD, or a 100 W solar panel through an onboard MPPT controller.

The enclosure is 6061-T6 aluminium with a Type III hard anodised finish and a solid C932 bronze accent ring. Controls are a machined rotary dial with haptic detents and capacitive touch keys behind glass.

Less than one European home in ten has air conditioning. Most of the rest cannot install one — fixed glazing, tenancy rules, no outdoor unit. That is the market.

A stylised, true-to-dimension model of the Aire — built to the same 310 × 195 × 235 mm envelope as the specification table below, in the same anodised aluminium and C932 bronze finish as the physical unit will use.

The display face reads live from the control simulator: switch modes or adjust the set temperature above and the model updates in place.

Why there is no hose

A vapour-compression system moves heat. It cannot destroy it. Every portable air conditioner has to put that heat somewhere, and conventionally that means blowing hot air down a 130 mm duct and out of a window.

The Aire replaces the air-cooled condenser with a brazed-plate water-cooled heat exchanger. Heat goes into a 2.5 litre internal reservoir instead of into the air. The water warms from ambient to roughly 48 °C over two and a half to three and a half hours, at which point the user opens a quarter-turn bronze drain and empties it. That takes about twenty seconds.

Cold condensate from the evaporator is recovered into the same reservoir rather than discarded, which extends runtime meaningfully in humid conditions. Because water transfers heat far better than air, the cycle also runs at a higher coefficient of performance than the air-cooled equivalent.

Real cycle: ~2.5–3.5 hours to 48°C, drained in about twenty seconds via the quarter-turn valve. This demo compresses that into seconds.

Refrigerant. R‑290 propane, charge under 90 g, factory sealed. At GWP 3 it sits permanently outside the EU F-Gas restriction schedule. Under Regulation (EU) 2024/573, self-contained plug-in air conditioning up to 12 kW containing fluorinated gases at GWP 150 or above is prohibited from 1 January 2027. R‑290 is unaffected — now and for the foreseeable regulatory horizon.

What this requires of a manufacturing partner. R‑290 is an A3 flammable refrigerant. Charging and handling must take place in a classified hazardous area with appropriately rated equipment. This is the single hardest requirement in the programme and the first thing we ask any prospective partner to evidence.

Seeking a manufacturing partner

SOLVEYR is a pre-production company. The Aire has been specified, drawn and modelled, but it has not been built. We are looking for one ODM partner to take it from specification to production.

We are not asking anyone to supply an existing product. This architecture does not exist on the market. We are asking whether your engineering team will develop it against a specification that is already written.

  • 01R‑290 capability. IECEx, NEPSI or ATEX certification for A3 charging and handling on your production floor, evidenced by certificate.
  • 02Measurement. An enthalpy difference laboratory on site, able to measure in the 3,000–3,500 BTU range.
  • 03Battery integration. Prior production of a unit combining LiFePO₄ storage with a DC compressor drive.
  • 04Volumes. 10–30 engineering samples, 500–1,000 first production run, 5,000–10,000 annually thereafter.
